Edgetone Studios is a professionally designed and built audio recording studio in North Cowichan, BC, Canada.

The 600 square foot facility features a purpose built control room and tracking room as well as an entry that can double as an isolation booth. The entire facility is sound proofed so that drums can be tracked anytime without disturbing anyone. Independently controlled HVAC systems provide ideal temperatures in both the tracking room and control room.

The Control Room

The primary objective of the studio design was a great sounding control room for accurate recording and mixing decisions. That objective was fully realized. The control room has built in bass trapping, diffusion, and absorption for accurate frequency response across the spectrum. In conjunction with the high-end professional monitoring system, this provides an extremely detailed listening experience.

The control room also houses a collection of vintage and modern synthesizers and drum machines. All of these instruments are permanently connected and ready to play. They are also MIDI connected, for a completely integrated production environment.

There is a comfortable couch for listening or relaxing while tracking bass or guitar.

The Tracking Room

The tracking room features 10 foot peaked ceilings and large windows for lots of natural light. This is not your typical ‘dungeon’ studio. The house kit is a 1977 Premier acoustic set, featuring 3-ply mahogany shells. But the tracking room is not only about rock. The tight acoustics create a great space for tracking any acoustic or electronic instrument.

The flexible headphone system supports up to 6 musicians in the tracking room and a total of 8 headphones across the three spaces. Up to 6 independent headphone mixes are available, with levels controlled by the musicians via a smartphone app.
